A Song for December: Hippo for Christmas

Hello friends!

December 26. Already?! I hope the holidays were kind to you and yours, and that you found ways to celebrate and connect with those you love—whatever that looked like this year. I have missed singing with my Christmas caroling group, Songful Artists, this year. In its absence, I twisted my husband’s arm to sing some carols with me which has proven to be very fun. (For both of us, I promise!) Here you’ll find one that we have fallen in love with: “Hippo for Christmas.” The bassoon you hear but don’t see is me, believe it or not. I played really well high school through college, then put it away. I’ve hardly played in the last decade, but it was great fun to arrange a hippo part for this song! Many thanks to Luke for jamming with me, and to Kate Rusby for the inspiration.

I haven’t yet discerned if I will continue these monthly offerings in the new year. Whether I do or don’t, thank you for joining me on this musical journey the last eight months. It’s been a joy to share with you, and I’m so very grateful for your support.

Lastly: I have stepped away from social media for the time being. There are a number of reasons, one being a hope to connect with folks more consciously and deeply. So if you have something you want me to know, or want to know what’s going on in my corner of the world, please text, call, write! It would be wonderful to hear from you.
